I thought I'd like to keep a regular diary about my musical development so tadah.
My LTCL examination's on the 18th of June, with the following repertoire:
Chopin Variations Brillante Op. 12
Mozart Sonata in A minor, K311
Liszt Hungarian Rhapsody No. 13
Ravel Sonatine
And I'm left with two weeks to shape myself up before I leave for Poland. I foresee a mad rush from 10th June onwards.
Performing can be a wonderful experience. But the stage is unbearably vicious to ill-prepared musicians, a category which I usually fall into. I'm taking this recital opportunity to firm up my confidence in performing, and that requires me to be extremely well-practised.
And then there's the Kirishima Music Festival this July - I can't wait! I've put forward my Chopin variations and the Bach Italian Concerto as masterclass pieces. Chopin shouldn't be much of a problem after the LTCL examination, but I've yet to learn the Bach. Bach because I haven't had much experience with Baroque music, and I need more input.
I've got my free composition to work on this evening too. It's going to be premiered at the MEP concert in July; I won't be present to see it. Noteworthy Composer sucks ass: I've decided to compose on paper.
